Affected individuals have progressive renal dysfunction with proteinuria associated with diffuse mesangial sclerosis (DMS) on renal biopsy. Other features include global developmental delay, microcephaly, hypothyroidism, arachnodactyly, and dysmorphic facial features. Some patients may have seizures or abnormalities on brain imaging. All reported patients have died in infancy. 4 individuals from 3 unrelated families with typical features of Galloway-Mowat syndrome including proteinuria, microcephaly, developmental delay and brain malformations.
