PMID 42178907 reports 5 individuals from 3 families with autosomal recessive loss‑of‑function variants presenting with nonsyndromic epidermal differentiation disorder (nEDD), infant‑onset generalised xerosis, erythematous scaling plaques and skin peeling. Functional assays in patient keratinocytes and HEK293T cells demonstrate markedly reduced EH3 enzymatic activity and disrupted skin‑barrier lipid composition.
