Gene-disease association: strong. Progressive sensorineural hearing impairment that starts in the first or second decade of life, varying severity. Patients typically show later-onset hearing loss, most arising later than 10-20 years of age, along with progressive (92.3%, 12/13), moderate (62.5%, 10/16), and flat-type hearing loss (68.8%, 11/16).

Severity: moderate

Age of onset: 10-30 years

Non-molecular confirmatory testing: yes, audiology but may not be present at birth

Treatment: Hearing aids.
